Frequently Asked Questions

What is the proper procedure for tagging my items?

Tags will be provided. Use only these tags and fill them out completely.

Please write clearly. Your profits depend on tag legibility.

Double check each tag for your seller number.

Use Red ink only if you do NOT want the item discounted.

Hangers must face the left with the tags on the right.

Pin tags with safety pins ONLY – No straight pins.

Size: Use numbers only – No "small," medium" or "large" on the tag. If your item is sized in this manner, please estimate a number size. If pants are slim, put size number then "S”.

Description: Carefully and briefly describe the item by color, brand name, design, etc., and tell whether it is a shirt, dress, etc. If your item is a toy, please describe the brand/type of toy or book and appropriate age group (infant, toddler, preschool). If the tag falls off, this will help us locate the items. Items without tags cannot be sold.

Circle: Boy, Girl, or Toy (toys need an approximate age group).

Also, mark on the tag if you want your items returned if not sold.

What is the best way to price my items?

Be conservative when pricing so that it will sell quickly. A good rule of thumb is: 1/3 of the new price for items in Excellent condition and 1/4 of the price for items in Fair to Good condition. Evaluate your prices: Would you pay that amount for the item? All items should be priced at $1.00 or above, in whole or half dollars. We recommend for items of lesser value be combined with like items for best results. Remember: Mark in Red all tags for items you wish NOT to be discounted on Saturday.

Why do you only accept metal hangers? My baby clothes will not fit.

Plastic hangers tend to break after being shifted on the racks, and plastic coated do not move at all on the racks. If you will unsnap the infant's garment and put the hanger through the bottom, you will have no problem hanging your item. Please don't bend the hangers.

Why no straight pins?

Straight pins can stick, and we need to protect our shoppers and volunteers. Straight pins can also slip off the clothing, causing your clothes to fall off the hanger or your tag to fall off.

How do I hang pants on a hanger?

Safety pin the waistband of the pants to the hanger. Do NOT fold over the hanger. Customers like to look at the whole garment, and if pants are hung by the waistband, customers do not have to remove the clothing from the hanger.

How do I hang sets?

Hang the shirt on the hanger, and the shorts or pants on the back. Don't hang them under the shirt where customers can't see without it without taking the shirt off.

How do I package shoes?

Package your shoes in Ziploc bags. All bags should be taped closed with the yellow tag inside.

How do I package my bedding?

If you have more than one piece, DO NOT make a tag for each piece. For example, if you have 5 pieces, make the bumper pads 1 of 5, the comforter 2 of 5, etc. Just make one tag that explains what you have, and how many pieces. Then tie it all together with the tag pinned outside, or wrap the bedding in plastic wrap with the tag on the outside so we can access it.

How do I package books?

Sets of books can be placed in Ziploc bags. Or you can use plastic cling wrap around the set of books and then use clear packing tape to apply tag. Individual books do not have to be placed in bags. However, please DO NOT tape the yellow tag to the outside of the book. It must be removed at checkout.

How do I package toys with many parts?

You can put small parts (e.g. kitchen accessories) in Ziploc bags then attach the bag to the main part (e.g. kitchen set) with clear packing tape.

How do I package puzzles?

The best way is to wrap Saran wrap around the puzzle, and then secure it with clear packing tape. Just make sure your tag is on the outside and accessible. Puzzles and games that are in boxes need to have every piece. Please be considerate of others. Do not try to sell items that are incomplete. Please seal the box with clear packing tape.

Do I need to include batteries?

Yes. Customers like to know if the product actually works. Items without batteries will NOT be accepted.

Why can I not size my garments with S, M, L?

This gets very confusing when we are trying to organize garments on the racks. Please estimate a number size. Also, if pants are slim, put a size number then an "S".

Why can I only bring 8 pairs of shoes and 3 stuffed animals?

We have so many shoes and stuffed toys to sell that we can only accept 8 of your best pair of shoes and 3 stuffed animals.  Sports shoes/cleats & dance/tap shoes DO NOT apply to regular shoe total.

Why must I bring only an umbrella stroller on Friday before 1:00 p.m.?

Friday morning is our busiest time, and strollers take up a lot of room in the aisles. We simply do not have room for everyone to shop and push a stroller in the aisles until after 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Will a nursery be available during the sale?

No, baby-sitting services are not available. We ask that you keep your children close to you at all times for their safety.

What happens to the items left at the end of the sale?

All items that are NOT picked up by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday will be donated to charity.
